Overview

Life Science Analytics Cloud (LSAC) is the leading AI-powered clinical analytics platform from Saama that seamlessly integrates clinical trial data, delivering more actionable insights for faster decision making. Saama’s proven suite of cloud-based applications in LSAC offer powerful data aggregation, monitoring, analytics, and collaboration capabilities, so sponsors and CROs can optimize study planning, enrollment, compliance, productivity, and oversight.

This document contains important information on new features and updates for LSAC v4.0.

             New Features/Enhancements

      This section gives a list of new features and/or updates for each module worked upon or improvised.

  • Registration & SSO (for New Custom Apps)


                LSPT-76: Addition of Application Management Console

The addition of the app management console facilitates the addition and registration of a Saama app, custom or third-party app in LSAC v4.0. The new app is visible in the LSAC Marketplace where users can access a brief summary along with details of the app before they can “Request a Demo” for it.


LSPT-77: Addition of Application Registration Screen


The addition of the app registration screen allows users to register a new app in LSAC along with allowing the user to add the app’s metadata details and to hence make it ready for showcasing (publishing) in the Marketplace module. Apps can be added by clicking on the Register app button from the App Management Console.


LSPT-78: Addition of Application SSO Configuration Console


The addition of the SSO Configuration Console allows the App SSO Admin to setup SSO configurations for a customer-app combination.  This module facilitates the work of the LSAC Infra Admin. 


LSPT-79: Addition of Edit App SSO Configuration Screen


The addition of the Edit App SSO Configuration Screen allows the LSAC administrator to add new SSO Configuration details for a custom app as well as for all possible customer-app combinations, and also allows you to edit the SSO Configuration details of an existing custom app.


  • Introduction to User Management Module

 

LSPT-69, LSPT-71:  New Module - User Management Console

 

The user management console facilitates the management of users that are assigned to multiple applications in various customer accounts in LSAC thus facilitating the LSAC admin to maintain a single user base across the LSAC platform. The following tasks can be carried out by the LSAC admin user, through the User Management Console:

  • Search for a user and modify/see the user's access to the applications
  • Addition of single or multiple users to a customer account in LSAC
  • View the list of customer account that a user has access to and modify their access on the LSAC modules.
  • Edit user access and delete users as well.
  • Export user details to a CSV format.

 

LSPT-70: Bulk Upload of users to a Customer Account 

 

A list of users can be added to a customer account, in LSAC, with the bulk upload of all users made possible through the Excel file upload.


LSPT-72: New Console – User Group


The User Group console facilitates the addition or deletion of multiple user groups where each of the user groups is identified with its scope of application access/permissions and the list of users availing those permissions. You can search for a user group and also modify its application access.


LSPT-73: Manage User Group details


The user groups in LSAC can be accessed by the LSAC admin who is able to modify the list of users and the scope of permissions or application access that is synonymous with the user group. New user groups can be added.


LSPT-74: New Console - Personas


The Personas console facilitates the tagging of users to a specific role identified by LSAC. The Personas are configured and managed from the backend.


LSPT-75: Mapping Users to Persona 


Users can be mapped or un-mapped to the Personas or to application roles present in LSAC.  


LSPT-80: Bulk Upload of Users with Access Details


Provision has been made to upload a single Excel file that contains column fields that are mapped to the user data fields in the Users console. The LSAC admin can fill up the Excel sheet with user details and also directly define the scope of access for the user by entering configuration values in the Excel sheet, for roles/ user groups/ apps, and then upload it, into LSAC, with a few clicks.

  •  Introduction to MarketPlace module


LSPT-85: About MarketPlace module


The MarketPlace module facilitates accessibility to several stand-alone applications that are or can be integrated with the LSAC platform. Users can browse through the list of all custom applications and access their respective literature (feature set) before they intend to request for a demo and subsequently avail subscription to one or more of these apps, when required.


LSPT-82: Application Showcase in MarketPlace


The Application console allows users to browse through multiple applications. Users can access the literature that comprises of a brief description, features and other resources like videos and images for each of the stand-alone applications. Users can request a demo before they proceed for subscription to any one of these applications. 


LSPT-200: Registering User on LSAC


The registration or signing up of a new user on the LSAC platform is established through a series of steps that comprises of entering user details, by the LSAC admin, and the user initiating action on some system-triggered emails. The link in the email titled, Activate your LSAC Account, directs the user to the LSAC Login screen where in a few steps, the user is on boarded onto the LSAC platform with a username and password. The validity of the setup process is 24 hours.


LSPT-201: Reset Password functionality 


The Reset Password functionality enables the user to reset their password in the event of forgetting their password or if they would want to change their password. The Forgot Password button can be accessed from the LSAC login screen and the user receives a link on his/her registered email address that allows him/her to set a new password.  The validity of the reset password link is 5 minutes.


LSPT-202: Reset MFA functionality*


The user can reset the MFA, if needed, before signing in into the LSAC platform. Once the user enters his/her registered email ID, a link is received that allows the user to reset the MFA.

*Note: This functionality that has been developed as part of the LSAC 4.0 product release is not applicable with LSAC 4.0. It would be applicable in future releases about which you would be notified.


LSPT-245: Request for Application Demo


Two emails will be triggered by the LSAC servers when the user requests a demo (from MarketPlace console) session for a new application viewed on MarketPlace. The first email initiates the application demo process for the user and the second email informs the support team to complete the demo and subscription process for the user.


  • SSO Implementation


LSPT-28: Authorizing granular access within Apps


Rendering access to different pages within an app is possible in LSAC v4.0. Access to different pages within an app/module is defined through Roles configured at the back-end in the LSAC platform. Some key features to focus on are as follows:

  • All apps that the user has access to, are listed.
  • Every app/module is supplemented with a Permission Configuration template that lets the app owner define access to the app through users/user groups/roles. The app owner can download the Permission Configuration template, make changes to it and then upload the Permission Configuration template into the system.
  • The logged in user can save the details of the permissions available in the app, specific to each user/user group/role.


LSPT-2: About LSAC 2.0 authorization


The LSAC Authentication server and the LSAC Authorization server support Single Sign On (SSO) functionality on LSAC v4.0.


LSPT-27: LSAC SSO server is supported


The LSAC Server that was independently managing all authentication activities, for LSAC 3.x, like user creation, storing passwords, creating user groups, and so on has been upgraded to work in tandem with the LSAC v4.0 authentication server to support and carry out all authentication activities for LSAC v4.0.


  • Integration with LSAC v4.0


LSPT-141: New User – Authorized Access


A new user registered on the LSAC platform, through SSO, will be able to browse through the various application components of LSAC v4.0 with the help of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar, located on the left.

The new analytics user will be able to:

  • Access applications, through My Apps, depending on his/her access to the various Analytics/Admin applications.
  • Access applications that the user has subscribed to, from My Apps, in the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.
  • Shift across different modules in the application while the Top Navigation Bar and the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar remain consistent. The Top Navigation Bar and the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar are together known as the LSAC Super Navigation Bar.
  • Access the Clinical Data Hub (Patient Analytics) modules (Study Admin, Global Admin, Data Access) depending on his/her access to the applications in LSAC. Clicking on the CDH modules will open a new left navigation bar that will overlap the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar. The hamburger menu in the top navigation bar will lead the user to the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.
  • Access the Saama Support Portal to log in an issue (create support ticket), give feedback or access Help documents.
  • Browse all applications that are part of the MarketPlace module and be able to request a demo from any of the applications.

                       

                        The new admin user will be able to:

                        

  • View and access the administrative module, that is Administration, which manages all users, user groups, personas, including, rendering of grants/permissions/access to users and user groups.
  • View the SSO Admin Console to manage the access/grants to the MarketPlace applications.

                

                    

LSPT-142: Seamless migration for LSAC v3.x Users 


The user can view and access all existing applications, such as RACT, Clinical Insights, Operations Insights, and so on from a familiar access point (left navigation) once they have selected the application from the redesigned left navigation bar known as the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar. The scope of permissions and applications access configured for all users and admin users on LSAC v3.x will carry forward to LSAC v4.0, as is. 

               

                        

LSPT-148: Easy Accessibility - The LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar


The LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar, located on the left, brings all of the LSAC application components together and makes them accessible to the user in the most easy and efficient way. All platform navigations are driven from the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar. 

 


                        LSPT-156: Integration of the CDH modules

                

All of the CDH modules, namely, Global Admin, Study Admin, and Data Access are accessible from the Administration tab that is part of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar located on the left. The authorized user will be able to view and access all of the CDH modules, as is, with a custom navigation bar that will overlap the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.   


LSPT-156: Integration of the CDH modules


All of the CDH modules, namely, Global Admin, Study Admin, and Data Access are accessible from the Administration tab that is part of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar located on the left. The authorized user will be able to view and access all of the CDH modules, as is, with a custom navigation bar that will overlap the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.   


LSPT-158: Integration of the LSAC Analytics modules


All of the LSAC analytics modules, namely, Operations Insights, Clinical Insights, RBQM, and KPI Studio are accessible from the My Apps tab that is part of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar located on the left. The authorized user will be able to view and access all of the LSAC Analytics modules.


LSPT-159: Integration of the Tasks module in LSAC Analytics


The Task module is accessible from the Collaboration tab that is part of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar located on the left. The user with app-level permissions will be able to manage (add/edit/view) tasks at the analytics level.


LSPT-163: User Management at Platform and Analytics level is integrated


There are two aspects to user management in LSAC. These are:

  • Platform Level - Platform-level permissions are accessible from the Administration tab that is present in the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar. The following fields are configured for a new user - First Name | Last Name | Email ID | User Group | Persona | App Access | Account Role
  • Analytics Level - Analytics-level permissions are accessible from any of the application modules, such as, Operations Insights, Clinical Insights, All Analytics, RACT and so on, by clicking on the Face icon and selecting Enter Architect Mode. All fields configured at the platform level for a user are correspondingly mapped to the user management fields at the Analytics level.

Note:

  • An Analytics administrator will be able to see the following tabs as well, once he/she selects Enter Architect Mode. These are Schemas | Users | Share KPIs | Help.
  • Users and Teams cannot be added or deleted at Analytics-level since these are configured at Platform-level.
  • At an Analytics-level, the administrator will be able to see Disposition Event Configuration in the Face icon dropdown.
  • Switch to the LSAC Analytics view by clicking on Enter Analyst Mode or by clicking on the Hamburger menu and by selecting a tab from the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.


LSPT-172: Addition of Engagement Console


The addition of the Engagement tab in the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar enables all registered users to access the following sections:

  • What's New - Allows the user to see all the new enhancements and features that are part of the new release.
  • User Guide - Allows the user to access all the LSAC Help Content.
  • Ask Support - Allows the user to contact LSAC Support or to create a ticket to get an issue resolved. an issue.
  • Provide Feedback - Allows the user to submit responses to the various application modules in LSAC and to contact the support team.

                        

                    

LSPT-174: Identification of User Roles


There are three different levels of user roles in LSAC that have been identified for this release. The role assigned to a user name helps identify the user's scope in the application. The three level of user roles are as follows: 

  • Platform-level Roles - These user roles are managed from the backend. There are three types of platform-level roles. These are: Super Admin | MarketPlace Admin | Infra Admin.
  • Account-level Roles- These user roles are managed from the front end through the Users tab. There are two types of account-level roles. These are Basic | Account Admin.
  • App-level Roles - These app-level roles are managed from the front-end through Users and/or User Groups tab. Every application has its set of user roles that are configured from the backend. These roles identify the scope of access, for the user, on the application. 


                       

LSPT-185: Optimal Performance for LSAC Analytics & LSAC Administrative Apps


All integrated applications and other application modules should load in less than 5 seconds as the user navigates from one application to another. The optimal load time is implemented on the following applications:

  • Clinical Insights
  • Operations Insights
  • RBQM: Consisting of RACT and Oversight Scorecard
  • KPI Studio
  • CDH Modules: Global Admin | Study Admin | Data Access

                        

LSPT-196: Easy access to LSAC Analytics module


The Analytics applications, namely, Clinical Insights, Operation Insights, RBQM (consisting of RACT and Oversight Scorecard), and KPI Studio are easily accessible from the My Apps tab located in the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar.


LSPT-198: Favorites tab is seen in My Home tab


The Favorites tab is integrated with the My Home tab and is marked as the first tab when the user selects the Home tab. 


LSPT-205: Addition of Submenu icons to the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar


Certain tabs of the LSAC Platform Left Navigation Bar, such as, My Apps and Administration have a submenu (>) icon that indicates the presence of other core sub modules in the respective LSAC module.
